Netradyne • BengaluruNetradyne harnesses the power of Computer Vision and Edge Computing to revolutionize the modern-day transportation ecosystem. We are a leader in fleet safety solutions. With growth exceeding 4x year over year, our solution is quickly being recognized as a significant disruptive technology. Our team is growing, and we need forward-thinking, uncompromising, competitive team members to continue to facilitate our growth.
Job Title: Staff Engineer – Platform (NELD & Ingestion)
Location: Bangalore (Onsite)
Experience: 6–9+ years of relevant backend / distributed systems engineering experience (with ~3–4 years at Senior or Staff level)
About Netradyne
Netradyne is transforming commercial fleet operations through advanced AI, computer vision, and edge computing. Our platform ingests high‑volume video, sensor, and telematics data from vehicles worldwide and turns it into actionable insights that improve driver safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
We operate large‑scale, distributed systems that process billions of events per day with strict requirements on reliability, latency, data correctness, and cost efficiency. At Netradyne, you’ll work with a talented team of engineers, data scientists, and product leaders on problems that have a direct, real‑world impact on roads, fleets, and drivers.
As a Staff Engineer, you will be a deep domain owner for NELD (Native ELD) or Ingestion while closely collaborating with the adjacent domain. Your work will shape large‑scale systems relied on by fleets, drivers, and internal product ecosystems.
Role Summary
As a Staff Engineer – Platform, you provide strong technical leadership and hands‑on ownership of core backend services and pipelines. You will anchor one primary domain (NELD or Ingestion) and influence cross‑team architecture and execution.
You are expected to:
- Own key service architectures
- Design scalable ingestion and compliance workflows
- Ensure data quality, correctness, and reliability
- Mentor engineers and drive high engineering standards
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Technical Ownership
- Own architecture, design, and evolution of platform services within NELD and/or Ingestion.
- Drive system design for large cross‑service features from ingestion to downstream consumers.
- Define and maintain clean service boundaries, APIs, and data contracts.
Platform & Systems Development
- Design scalable, high‑throughput ingestion pipelines for logs, telematics, and event data.
- Build and optimize streaming and batch data workflows.
- Translate HOS/ELD regulatory requirements into robust system behavior and guardrails.
- Ensure correctness, ordering, idempotency, and fault tolerance across workflows.
Reliability & Observability
- Define and uphold SLOs for latency, availability, and data accuracy.
- Champion best practices in logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting.
- Design for backpressure handling, graceful degradation, and system recovery.
Data Modeling & Storage
- Design data models and partitioning strategies for hot and cold data.
- Select appropriate storage technologies (SQL, NoSQL, time‑series, object storage) balancing scale, performance, and cost.
Cross‑Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, Data, Compliance, and Engineering teams to deliver domain initiatives.
- Lead design reviews, contribute to RFCs, and support cross‑team architecture discussions.
Mentorship & Engineering Quality
- Mentor engineers on system design, distributed systems, and platform thinking.
- Improve code quality, documentation, and operational best practices.
Mandatory Skills
- Strong CS fundamentals (DSA & system design).
- Deep hands‑on backend experience with Java, Spring Boot.
- Strong grounding in distributed systems concepts: consistency, durability, retries, idempotency, backpressure, partitioning, resilience.
- Practical experience with Kafka / Kinesis / Pulsar or similar.
- Experience operating production systems (on‑call, incidents, postmortems).
- Excellent communication and technical leadership ability.
Preferred Skills
- Experience building high‑throughput ingestion or streaming systems.
- Exposure to compliance‑heavy or audit‑driven domains (transportation, fintech, healthcare).
- Experience with edge or intermittently connected devices.
- Hands‑on work with observability stacks.
- Prior experience in ELD / HOS / telematics is a plus.
Education
B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
