Data Platform Engineer (6‑Month Contract)

Expana is growing fast, and we’re looking for a Data Platform Engineer to join us on a 6‑month contract and help shape the next evolution of our data platform. If you enjoy building scalable systems, automating complex workflows, and creating tools that empower teams, this role offers real impact from day one.

Expana provides global commodity price data, forecasts, and market intelligence to leading organisations across food, pharma, CPG, industrials, and capital goods. We’re expanding rapidly, and our Data & Analytics function sits at the centre of that growth.

What You’ll Do

Develop and enhance Expana’s data platform and self‑service capabilities.

Build and maintain reliable data pipelines, including automated ingestion and web scraping.

Optimise cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred) and ensure platform stability.

Create automation that streamlines workflows and reduces manual effort.

Embed strong security and compliance practices.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve data systems.

Collaborate with data scientists, analytics engineers, and analysts to deliver scalable solutions.

What You Bring

Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Strong programming skills, ideally in Python.

Familiarity with modern data engineering tools and CI/CD workflows.

A structured, reliable approach to testing, automation, and system design.

Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently on complex projects.

Adaptability, curiosity, and a drive to improve systems and processes.

Experience with web scraping and automated data ingestion is essential

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.

Proven experience delivering data engineering projects end‑to‑end.
