At Mentee Robotics, we are redefining humanoid automation with an AI-first approach - combining perception, reasoning, and dexterous manipulation into fully autonomous systems that continuously learn and adapt.
We are now expanding with a new robotics Engineering center in China, working hand-in-hand with our engineering teams in headquarters. Its mission: to rapidly develop our next-generation full-size humanoid and bring it to life - a walking, working platform that becomes the foundation of our next generation of products. This is a small, senior, hands-on team where speed of iteration is the core value.
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to own the robot's power: a simple, safe battery system, power distribution to dozens of high-current joints, and the wiring harness that ties the machine together. No hot-swap, no product polish - power management only where it is necessary, done right.
Who you are?
A pragmatic system electrical engineer - you scope to what the prototype needs
Safety-first where it matters: batteries, e-stop, and protection are non-negotiable
Comfortable owning everything from pack design to the last connector
Responsibilities:
Design a simple, robust battery pack for the prototype: cell selection, pack architecture, and the necessary battery management (protection, monitoring, charging)
Design robot-wide power distribution: bus architecture, regeneration handling, fusing, and pre-charge
Own the safety chain: e-stop, contactors, and fault disconnection paths
Design and route the full wiring harness - power and communication - through joints and limbs, together with the actuation team
Define connectors and cabling for high-flex, high-current robot use
Integrate compute and sensor power domains (Jetson, cameras, IMU)
Validate the power system under real locomotion loads; instrument and measure
Requirements:
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
5+ years in system-level electrical design for robotics, automotive, drones, or battery-powered machines
Hands-on experience with Li-ion battery pack design and BMS integration
Experience with high-current DC power distribution and protection design
Practical harness design experience: routing, strain relief, connectors for moving mechanisms
Strong lab skills and a safety-driven working culture
Advantages:
Experience in EV / automotive power systems (e.g., BYD, NIO, Xpeng, Xiaomi) or legged robotics
EMI/EMC mitigation experience in dense electromechanical systems
Familiarity with regenerative braking energy handling in motor-driven systems
Comfortable communicating technical topics in English with international teams
