Accountabilities

  • Lead consistent 1-on-1s with direct reports focused on growth, wellbeing, and performance
  • Manage the full performance cycle including goal setting, ongoing feedback, and formal reviews
  • Mentor and develop data scientists and engineers of varying skill levels
  • Foster a collaborative, high-trust team environment where innovation thrives
  • Monitor team engagement and address issues proactively
  • Drive team growth through strategic hiring and onboarding
  • Guide the development and delivery of machine learning models and AI-powered solutions
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to align on priorities
  • Promote best practices in data science, including model quality and responsible AI
  • Translate complex data science outputs into actionable insights for stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively across all levels, from individual contributors to senior leadership
  • Align data science efforts with broader business objectives
  • Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing data science or analytics teams with a strong focus on people development
  • Hands-on background in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics
  • Strong technical foundation in Python, SQL, and relevant data science/machine learning frameworks
  • Experience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Familiarity with Agile practices and data engineering workflows
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
  • Genuine commitment to developing the team members around you
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field; experience is the most relevant factor
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
