Accountabilities
Lead consistent 1-on-1s with direct reports focused on growth, wellbeing, and performanceManage the full performance cycle including goal setting, ongoing feedback, and formal reviewsMentor and develop data scientists and engineers of varying skill levelsFoster a collaborative, high-trust team environment where innovation thrivesMonitor team engagement and address issues proactivelyDrive team growth through strategic hiring and onboardingGuide the development and delivery of machine learning models and AI-powered solutionsPartner with engineering and product teams to align on prioritiesPromote best practices in data science, including model quality and responsible AITranslate complex data science outputs into actionable insights for stakeholdersCommunicate effectively across all levels, from individual contributors to senior leadershipAlign data science efforts with broader business objectives
Requirements
5+ years of experience managing data science or analytics teams with a strong focus on people developmentHands-on background in data science, machine learning, or advanced analyticsStrong technical foundation in Python, SQL, and relevant data science/machine learning frameworksExperience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP)Familiarity with Agile practices and data engineering workflowsOutstanding communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiencesGenuine commitment to developing the team members around youBachelor's degree in a quantitative field; experience is the most relevant factorAbility to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
