Who We Are and What We are Doing:

Ethena Labs is actively building and deploying a suite of groundbreaking digital dollar products aiming to upgrade money into the internet era.

Our flagship product, USDe, is a synthetic dollar backed by digital assets, and takes the novel approach of using a delta-neutral hedged basis strategy to maintain its peg. This product scaled from zero to $15b in 18 months.

Expanding on this, iUSDe is designed specifically for traditional financial institutions, incorporating necessary compliance features to enable them to access the crypto-native rewards our protocol generates, in an institutional-friendly manner.

Ethena has also developed USDtb: a fiat backed GENIUS compliant stablecoin in partnership with BlackRock which has scaled to ~$2b.

These products are also offered in a whitelabel stablecoin offering where any application, chain, wallet or exchange can launch their own stablecoin on Ethena's back-end infrastructure.

Through these offerings, Ethena Labs is not just creating new financial products; we are building the foundational infrastructure for a more open, efficient, and interconnected global financial system.

The Role

We're looking for a Head of Platform Engineering to serve as the technical authority for infrastructure and developer tools. You’ll be reporting directly to the CTO, whilst collaborating closing with out Fractional CISO and Security Team.

Your mission will be to lead the design, development, and optimisation of a platform that is scalable, reliable, and secure. This platform must empower engineering teams and drive business outcomes in a fast-paced startup environment. You will be responsible for proactively identifying and remediating infrastructure gaps, delivering critical projects, and building a high performing DevOps/Platform team. This role includes managing 1-2 Senior/Intermediate DevOps Engineers as direct reports.

What You’ll Do

Own and lead on all Ethena Platform Reliability and SRE, maintain uptime for critical systems and implement comprehensive monitoring (Prometheus, Datadog) to reduce Mean Time to Detect.

Implement robust security practices (zero-trust models, vulnerability scanning), integrate DevSecOps, and ensure compliance with standards like SOC 2 and GDPR.

Enhance CI/CD pipelines to increase deployment frequency.

Define, develop and execute the infrastructure strategy, while building and scaling the Platform team. Mentoring direct reports and onboarding new engineers.

Implement cost monitoring and optimise resource allocation to reduce overall infrastructure costs without compromising performance.

Improve developer happiness and productivity by automating repetitive tasks and providing self-service tools.

Design, deploy, and manage highly available, low-latency infrastructure for blockchain ecosystems, and reduce Mean Time to Recover from incidents.

What We’re Looking For

Extensive hands-on experience in platform engineering, including cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP), IaC tools, containerisation, and monitoring systems. Must have the ability to contribute as an individual contributor while leading the team.

Demonstrated initiative in identifying gaps, driving improvements, and owning outcomes without heavy external guidance. This includes strong problem-solving skills to anticipate and prevent issues.

Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time, with excellent accountability, prioritisation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Ability to develop and execute long-term infrastructure strategies that align with business objectives and enable scalable growth.

An experienced mentor, who’s built high-performing teams, with a focus on fostering technical growth and a collaborative culture.

Clear and effective communicator, able to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and align teams around shared goals.
