This remote role is designed for an experienced engineer to architect, deploy, and maintain robust infrastructure solutions, with a strong emphasis on Kubernetes on bare-metal systems and Infrastructure-as-Code. The Infrastructure Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to design scalable, secure, and automated platforms, contributing to mission-critical software delivery in complex, high-security environments. The position requires problem-solving expertise, the ability to translate conceptual architectures into actionable implementations, and collaboration across multiple engineering and operations disciplines. This role offers the opportunity to innovate, standardize processes, and directly impact software delivery pipelines, supporting high-stakes operational environments. Accountabilities:
Conceptualize, architect, prototype, and deploy Kubernetes on bare-metal infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate applications with automated delivery platforms and pipelines.Leverage Infrastructure-as-Code to develop reusable modules for provisioning across hypervisors and cloud platforms.Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, building, packaging, and deployment of platform components.Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture decision records (ADRs), and test plans.Provide estimates for tasks, assist with project planning, and validate that solutions align with technical and business requirements.Rapidly prototype solutions and iterate based on operational feedback and mission needs.Requirements:
Active Secret Clearance required.Strong proficiency with bare-metal Kubernetes (RKE2, K3D/K3S, EKS-D).Experience with continuous delivery, containerization, and cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure).Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go) and Linux/Unix systems (Ubuntu, RHEL).Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform/HCL, YAML, Bash) and automated CI/CD pipelines.Knowledge of Kubernetes networking, service meshes (Istio), and ingress/egress controllers (metallb, nginx).Familiarity with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Promtail).Strong understanding of security and compliance practices, including runtime security and policy enforcement tools (Neuvector, Kyverno, Pepr).Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to collaborate across distributed teams.Ability to travel 10–15%, including occasional overnight and international trips.Benefits:
