About the Role:
We are looking for a hands-on Lead SDET with a strong product and engineering mindset to own, build, and scale the end-to-end quality function in a fast-growing startup environment.
This role goes beyond traditional QA leadership. You will design and build automation frameworks, influence architecture and design for testability, drive shift-left quality practices, and mentor a high-performing SDET team. You will work closely with Group, Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Security, and DevOps teams to ensure fast, reliable, and scalable product releases with minimal defect leakage.
Responsibilities:
Own the end-to-end QA lifecycle across web and mobile productsDefine, implement, and continuously evolve QA strategy, processes, and best practicesEstablish quality standards, release criteria, and risk assessment frameworksProvide release readiness reports, quality metrics, defect trends, and risk insights to leadershipIdentify quality gaps, systemic risks, and proactively drive resolutionActively contribute as an individual contributor in manual and automated testingDesign, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks across: UI (Web)API & Backend, Integration and End-to-End layersDevelop and execute functional and non-functional test casesPerform regression, smoke, sanity, API, performance, load, security, and accessibility testingEnsure high-quality UI/UX, pixel-perfect validationDrive and support BDD-based testing practicesOwn and evolve the test automation platform for scalability, reliability, and ease of useBuild and enhance internal QA tools to improve test efficiency and productivityImplement test observability and reporting systems for analytics, dashboards, and alertsReduce test flakiness through intelligent retries, failure analysis, and stability improvementsContribute to CI/CD quality gates and continuous testing pipelinesResearch and apply emerging technologies (AI/ML, LLM-based testing, smart test generation) to advance automation maturityLead performance, load, and scalability testing for critical features and servicesValidate infrastructure-level quality in containerized and distributed environmentsPartner with Engineering and DevOps to ensure systems meet scalability and reliability SLAsAdvocate and implement shift-left testing by embedding quality early in design and developmentParticipate in architecture, design, and requirement reviews to improve testabilityProvide quality insights on microservices, micro-frontends, databases, and data flowsDrive root cause analysis (RCA) for production issues and close defect leakage loopsLead, mentor, and grow a team of 3–4 QA/SDET engineersReview test cases, automation code, and defect reportsSet coding standards, automation patterns, and best practicesEnsure timely delivery of testing activities aligned with sprint and release schedulesBuild onboarding documentation and training materials for frameworks and toolsInspire a quality-first, ownership-driven mindset across the teamWork closely with Group Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Developers, Security, and DevOps teamsAct as a quality advocate across the organization, ensuring quality is owned throughout the product lifecycleEnsure customer impact and real-world reliability remain central to all quality decisions
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in QA, Software Testing, or SDET roles2+ years of experience in a senior or lead testing roleStrong hands-on experience in manual and automation testingProven experience building and scaling automation frameworks from scratchStrong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or JavaSolid understanding of API, backend, and integration testingExperience with performance, load, and scalability testingHands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and continuous testingAbility to independently own quality end-to-end in a fast-paced environmentStrong attention to detail with a quality-first and customer-first mindsetExcellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
