About the Role:
As a Lead Engineer on the Platform Data team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of HighLevel’s platform. You’ll design and develop shared frameworks, libraries, and core services that power products at scale. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in ambiguity, enjoy solving large-scale engineering challenges, and are passionate about creating systems that enable massive impact across teams.

Job Overview
We operate mission-critical data platforms built on SQL(Postgres), MongoDB, ElasticSearch, and ClickHouse. We need a lead-level Software Engineer with deep expertise in these systems and strong coding / system-design skills to drive architecture, performance, and reliability.

Requirements:

  • 5+ Years of overall experience
  • Software engineering experience, with demonstrated success in distributed systems or large-scale backend services
  • Extensive experience configuring, tuning, and operating large-scale managed databases handling TB–PB data volumes and billions of records.
  • Hands-on experience designing, optimizing, and scaling systems using modern databases such as ElasticSearch, Firestore, MongoDB, ClickHouse, and Redis
  • Proven mastery of any programming language with clean, testable codeProven ability to lead technically, navigate ambiguity, and deliver impactful results
  • Deep understanding of distributed-systems principles (CAP, consistency, consensus) and observability best practices.
  • Experiencewith CI/CD, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and IaC (Terraform/Ansible) for database automation.
  • Solid grasp of SQL fundamentals; prior work with relational engines is a plus.
  • Responsibilities:


  • 1. Data System Design, Optimization, and Scaling (Database Focus):
  • Design systems that efficiently interact with large-scale data using ElasticSearch, Google Firestore, MongoDB Atlas, ClickHouse, and Redis.
  • Design, configure, and optimize large-scale clusters of SQL (Postgres), MongoDB, ElasticSearch, and ClickHouse (TB–PB scale, billions of records).Contribute to high-performance service architecture capable of handling terabytes of data.
  • Instrument, benchmark, and tune query paths, indexing, memory/CPU usage, and storage layouts to ensure sub-second latencies.

  • 2. Framework, Service Development, and Engineering Leadership:
  • Develop, and maintain reusable frameworks, SDKs, and core platform services in programming languages like Node.js and GoLang.
  • Lead design reviews, establish best practices, and mentor senior engineers to raise technical standards across the organization.

  • 3. Cross-Functional Collaboration and Governance:
  • Collaborate with product and platform teams to embed best-practice data-access patterns, enforce SLAs, and review overall system design.
  • Partner with multiple teams to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable platform capabilities.
  • Establish governance for backup/restore, disaster recovery, security, and compliance across AWS, GCP, and Azure environments.
  • Nice to Have:

  • Leadership of multi-region or hybrid-cloud data platforms.
  • Expertise in ClickHouse-based real-time analytics or ElasticSearch-powered search at scale.
  • Hands-on with streaming or ETL frameworks (PubSub, Kafka, Pulsar, Spark, Flink).
