We are seeking a highly qualified Optics Engineering Manager in our Broomfield, CO Location. This role will oversee the design, fabrication, assembly, testing, and delivery of high-performance optical subsystems and assemblies. You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team of optical engineers, technicians, and scientists, ensuring technical excellence, operational efficiency, and on-time delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both technical depth in optics and proven management skills. As such, ideal candidates will boast a broad and deep understanding in one or more of classical or quantum optics, lasers, and integrated photonics.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the development, integration, and testing of large, complex optical systems.Collaborate with systems engineering, mechanical, and electronics teams to ensure optical subsystems meet performance, cost, and schedule goals.Develop and implement quality control procedures, test protocols, and documentation.Drive continuous improvement in design, manufacturability, and throughput for higher-TRL, deployable systems. Identify team-level staffing needs and fill key gaps via: mentoring, coaching, and training direct-reporting engineers, scientists, and technicians; hiring and developing staff with the right skills for success; perform technical goal setting; employee performance assessments; and compensation adjustments Lead communication and coordination with the larger optics teams across our CO and MN sites, and foster teamwork and relationship building throughout the optics groups Partners with vendors and suppliers on sourcing, fabrication, and qualification of optical components and assemblies, with focus on scalable solutions for future systems.Contribute to planning and execution of our technical roadmap as required for Sol, Apollo, and beyond products
YOU MUST HAVE:
Bachelor’s Degree minimumMinimum 10 years (degree-inclusive) experience designing, developing, building, using and maintaining optical, opto-mechanical, and/or laser systems Minimum 1 year of experience serving as the (technical and/or people) leader of an advanced technical team Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee statusDue to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
