Impossible Cloud

Platform Engineer (Bare Metal) - Entry to Mid-level

Impossible Cloud • DE
BUILD THE NEXT GENERATION OF THE INTERNET
Impossible Cloud is a B2B cloud platform with a focus on becoming the #1 cloud platform in Europe and beyond. It was founded by serial entrepreneurs who have previously built a billion-euro tech company.

Currently, our offering includes cloud object storage similar to AWS S3, and our market success is already being proven by highly promising growth based on our channel-based GTM strategy. While we build a comprehensive suite of cloud products, we are redefining the cloud sector by bridging the gap between decentralized infrastructure (DePIN) and mainstream B2B cloud use cases.

Become part of something bigger: We’re committed to reinventing the internet and pushing technological innovation and business determination to the next level.

YOUR IMPACT
Be part of our team and join our mission: we push decentralised infrastructure beyond what people consider possible!

As an Platform Engineer (Bare Metal), you will build and scale the physical foundation of the Impossible Cloud infrastructure that powers our cloud storage platform. This role involves end-to-end provisioning of physical and virtual infrastructure—from server and network configuration to operating system deployment. You will play a key role in both Day 1 (initial setup) and Day 2 (ongoing operations), ensuring scalable, reliable, and automated provisioning of our bare metal servers.

Please note that we can only consider candidates who have a valid, unrestricted work permit for the EU. We do not provide relocation support.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL

  • Provision, deploy, and configure physical servers and networking components to support cloud infrastructure.
  • Design and implement optimized networking and virtualization solutions across diverse hardware platforms, focusing on latency, throughput, and reliability.
  • Configure and optimize bare-metal servers as well as hypervisors and management of virtual machines (VMs) across diverse hardware vendors.
  • Automate the provisioning, scaling, and maintenance of hardware infrastructure to ensure rapid and seamless expansion.
  • Contribute to a cloud-like infrastructure ecosystem by writing and reviewing infrastructure automation code, enhancing internal tooling, and sharing best practices.
  • YOU COULD BE A GREAT FIT FOR THE ROLE IF YOU HAVE

  • Good knowledge of Linux systems, including customization, scripting, and system optimization.
  • Experience with L2/L3 networking concepts, including redundancy and load-balancing, and with performance optimization (latency, throughput).
  • Familiarity with IPMI, Redfish, iDRAC, and other hardware management tools.
  • Good scripting skills with Shell, Bash, or similar languages.
  • BONUS POINTS

  • Experience with Kubernetes deployment and operation.
  • Knowledge of hardware supply chain, vendor management, and capacity planning.
  • Experience with hypervisors (e.g., KVM) and managing virtual machines (VMs) at scale
