In this role, you will design and build scalable backend systems that power real-time customer experiences for a rapidly growing technology platform. Working within a small, high-impact engineering team, you will contribute to the architecture of event-driven microservices and help deliver reliable, high-performance solutions used by thousands of businesses and millions of customers. You’ll collaborate closely with product and frontend teams to translate complex requirements into robust technical designs while maintaining high standards of code quality and system reliability. Accountabilities:
Design and develop scalable, event-driven backend services and distributed systems supporting high-volume customer interactions.Build and maintain secure, high-performance APIs used by web applications, mobile platforms, and external integrations.Architect microservices, define service boundaries, and implement effective data flow and communication patterns across systems.Develop backend features including messaging systems, analytics pipelines, campaign execution, integrations, and data processing services.Implement integrations with external platforms and APIs while ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.Maintain high-quality code through testing, code reviews, and adherence to engineering best practices.Integrate AI-powered capabilities using external AI APIs and experiment with new development approaches to improve engineering workflows.Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers and frontend engineers to deliver well-designed, scalable solutions.Contribute to long-term technical strategy, system observability, and infrastructure reliability.Requirements:
5+ years of experience building backend systems, APIs, or distributed services in production environments.Strong expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven design patterns.Experience designing and developing RESTful or GraphQL APIs, including authentication, authorization, and versioning strategies.Solid knowledge of database design, query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning across SQL or NoSQL databases.Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals including testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and collaborative development practices.Proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as Node.js, Python, Ruby, Go, Java, or C#.Experience with cloud infrastructure and scalable architectures, ideally in environments such as AWS.Familiarity with messaging systems, asynchronous processing, and service-to-service communication patterns.Experience integrating third-party APIs or building SaaS platforms in multi-tenant environments is a plus.Exposure to AI integrations, LLM APIs, or AI-driven product features is considered advantageous.Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in distributed engineering teams.Benefits:
