The Role:
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and tools needed for efficient software service provision. You will collaborate closely with development and infrastructure teams to streamline processes, enhance system reliability, and ensure seamless integration and delivery of software services. Your role will involve automating workflows, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issues to maintain high availability and performance. Strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment are key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Working with the Development team, Infrastructure team, Support team and Product Management team to provide tools to support business processes within the following categories:Monitoring – ensuring that the systems are available and working within expected parametersValidation – Did the deployments succeed, are the configurations valid…Deployment/ Upgrades – taking software through a CI/Deployment pipelines to meet the needs of the businessInvestigation/troubleshooting – Investigating issues passed over from the support team to understand and prevent recurrence.Business Intelligence – understand the usage of the applications/tools to provide insights to drive future development.Security – support pen tests/security reviews, understand impacts to business of threats raised from the security landscapeCollaboratively work as part of the wider team to continuously deliver quality software to productionApply your experience and knowledge to solve both common and complex issuesExercise significant independent judgement to determine the best method for accomplishing objectivesProvide constructive and timely feedback to the wider ION Analytics team with a goal of improvement/automation of repetitive tasks.Contribute to developing and refining the existing processes to enhance quality and productivity and promoting best practice.
Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in a related roleSome experience with PowerShell, JavaScript, TypeScript, .NET, SQLExperience with Azure DevOps pipelines/GitHub Actions. Experience with Monitoring tools, SCOM Management packs/Site 24/7…Practical skills in debugging and profiling applicationsWindows/Azure Administration experienceExperience communicating to internal and external stakeholdersDegree educated in Computer Science or relevant subjectExcellent spoken and written English Enthusiastic about delivering high quality software Experience of driving innovation within teamsPositive, can-do approach to work, delivering on commitmentsAbility to communicate clearly and persuasivelyAble to earn respect and build trust through high-quality delivery and by demonstrating the value addedConstant drive to learn from your own - and others - mistakesAct with integrity, with the ability to make decisions, taking accountability for the consequences of these decisionsCreative approach to problem solving, can look at existing situations and problems in novel ways and propose innovative solutions
