About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead Quizlet’s Partner and Connector Ecosystems, building the platform foundations that allow Quizlet’s learning experiences to safely extend into third-party products, platforms, and AI environments.

In this role, you will own the engineering strategy and execution for APIs, SDKs, connectors, and orchestration services that power embedded learning experiences, agentic workflows, and real-time data exchange. You will work at the intersection of platform engineering, AI interoperability, partner enablement, and privacy-first system design, collaborating closely with Product, Partner BD, Legal, Security, and Trust & Safety teams.

We’re happy to share that this is an onsite position in our San Francisco office. To help foster team collaboration, we require that employees be in the office a minimum of three days per week: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and as needed by your manager or the company. We believe that this working environment facilitates increased work efficiency, team partnership, and supports growth as an employee and organization.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and grow engineering teams responsible for partner APIs, SDKs, plugin frameworks, and connector services
  • Design and operate Quizlet’s Ecosystem API Gateway and Connector Runtime, ensuring integrations are secure, scalable, discoverable, and sandboxed
  • Establish platform standards for authentication, authorization, rate limiting, consent, and data access across all partner integrations
  • Build tooling and infrastructure that enable partners to integrate quickly while maintaining Quizlet’s high bar for reliability and safety
  • Enable real-time, event-driven, and agentic workflows across internal systems, partners, and AI agents
  • Power Model Context Protocol (MCP)–ready interoperability, connecting Quizlet with multi-agent systems, AI assistants, and partner platforms
  • Support intelligent coordination between learning content, user context, and external tools
  • Drive platform capabilities that unlock key partner scenarios, including agentic flows, embedded experiences, and data exchange
  • Partner with Product and Partner BD to translate ecosystem strategy into scalable technical solutions
  • Collaborate closely with Partner BD, Legal, Security, Privacy, and Trust & Safety to ensure all integrations meet compliance, security, and user-protection requirements
  • Influence roadmap priorities by balancing partner needs, platform health, and long-term scalability
  • Establish metrics for platform adoption, reliability, partner success, and ecosystem health
  • What you bring to the table:

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years managing engineering teams
  • Proven experience leading platform, API, or ecosystem teams at scale
  • Experience collaborating with Business Development and external stakeholders
  • Deep experience with ML platform, API design, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures
  • Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, consent, and data governance
  • Experience building SDKs, plugin frameworks, or integration platforms
  • Familiarity with AI interoperability, agentic systems, or workflow orchestration is a strong plus
  • Experience with multi-tenant, high-availability platforms preferred
  • Platform-first mindset with empathy for developers and partners
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to design for long-term extensibility
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to align technical and business stakeholders
