Job Description:
As the Senior Manager of the Power Systems team, you will be responsible for all aspects of the X-BAT aircraft power system, the Launch and Recovery Vehicle, and ground equipment. This includes the architecture, design, qualification, integration, and deployment to production. You will build a team of world class engineers to design custom power electronics, batteries, harnesses, generators, and anything else necessary to realize the architecture. What you'll do:
Define and execute the vision of the X-BAT aircraft power system from concept to production. This includes power generation, regulation, distribution, power quality, control, etc.Design, develop, and integrate state-of-the-art high-power systems tailored for optimal performance and reliability in harsh environments (high altitude, radiation, etc.)Design custom power electronics for high power and high voltage Design an uninterruptible power system with a high-capacity batteryMake vs. buy trade studies. Select, test, and integrate modules for use in the aircraftBuild a world class power electronics labEnsure system performance and reliability is met through rigorous verificationDebug complex problems related to the electrical design, environmental, manufacturing, etc.Build your team and lead multiple engineers dedicated to the power system designDrive a cross-functional team to execute the top-level architectureProvide mentorship, design review, and program execution leadershipWork in a fast-paced environment
Required qualifications:
Power system design experience on large aircraft, or an equivalent power system (rocket, satellite, submarine, etc.)10+ years relevant experienceHave delivered power system and power electronic products to market Proficient with electrical engineering development tools, simulation, and test equipmentStrong technical fundamentals and analysis
