About the Role:
As a Senior Software Engineer at JioStar, you will play a key role in designing and developing the core backend systems that power our live streaming workflows. You’ll own projects end-to-end, operate with a high degree of autonomy, and help shape the architecture and future direction of our low-latency, distributed systems.

About the Team:
At JioHotstar, our Live Video Engineering team owns the end-to-end orchestration of live video production. We generate and manage live streams tailored to diverse business requirements, supporting millions of sports fans across India.
Our responsibilities include ingesting feeds from stadiums or satellites and fanning them out based on monetization models, subscription tiers, and platform-specific needs.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and build scalable, resilient microservices that drive JioStar’s live streaming infrastructureLead the end-to-end delivery of complex backend projects—from technical design through deployment, monitoring, and iterationWrite high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code with a strong focus on fault tolerance and system reliabilityDrive architectural decisions and contribute to the long-term engineering roadmapCollaborate with Product Managers, Operations, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutionsChampion operational excellence, including performance tuning, incident management, and root cause analysisMentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews and technical deep dives, and promote a culture of engineering excellence and knowledge sharing
Skills and Attributes for Success:
Strong proficiency in Python or GolangExperience designing and building distributed systems at scaleHands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred, AWS Mediaservices experience is a plus), messaging systems (e.g., Kafka), and CI/CD pipelinesProven ability to work autonomously in fast-paced environments, manage priorities, and deliver high-impact resultsPassion for mentoring and growing fellow engineersInterest in advertising technologies and optimizing systems for user and business outcomes
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.6 years of experience in backend development, with a focus on building production-grade systems.
