WHOOP Enterprise is entering a new phase of growth and reinvestment. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to play a critical role in evolving the Enterprise platform; building core systems, shaping technical direction, and laying the foundation for a scalable enterprise product.
This is a high-ownership role with meaningful autonomy. You’ll operate in a product-ambiguous environment, help define what “great” looks like, and partner closely with design, stakeholders, and leadership as the platform takes its next step forward.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Own and evolve foundational systems for WHOOP Enterprise, starting with Enterprise APIs, authentication, and account managementDesign, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that support enterprise use cases and external integrationsCollaborate closely with design, analytics, and engineering partners to translate ambiguous product needs into scalable technical solutionsDefine and influence technical direction, system architecture, and implementation standards for the Enterprise platformBuild systems with a strong emphasis on security, privacy, reliability, and correctness, appropriate for enterprise customersDevelop and maintain observability, monitoring, and operational practices to ensure system stabilityConsistently deliver high-quality, well-tested code following best practices in software design and developmentHelp establish engineering foundations that scale, including documentation, patterns, and mentorship as the team grows
QUALIFICATIONS:
4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong foundation in backend developmentExperience building and owning production backend systems and RESTful APIs (Java preferred)Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and identity or account management conceptsExperience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQLExperience designing and operating services in cloud environments (AWS)Comfort working across the stack, including contributing to web applications leveraging AI tools (e.g., React), even if backend is your primary strengthStrong system design skills, with experience building scalable, reliable, and maintainable softwareAbility to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments with minimal product processStrong independent problem-solving skills and a sense of ownership over outcomesClear communicator who collaborates well across disciplines and can articulate technical tradeoffsBuilder mindset with interest in helping shape and scale a platform and team over time
