This role offers the opportunity to build and maintain backend systems that power a high-impact digital platform focused on personalized nutrition and healthcare solutions. You will design, implement, and optimize backend services, APIs, and data infrastructure that support both member-facing applications and internal clinical workflows. Collaborating closely with frontend engineers and product teams, you will ensure the delivery of scalable, reliable, and secure software. The position combines hands-on development with system design, performance optimization, and mentoring junior engineers. You will work in a remote-first, dynamic environment where your contributions directly improve user experience and operational efficiency. Accountabilities:
Develop and maintain backend systems powering web applications and internal toolsDesign, implement, and maintain RESTful APIs to serve frontend and internal workflows effectivelyEstablish development best practices including code reviews, automated testing, and deployment proceduresCollaborate with product and frontend teams to translate requirements into robust backend solutionsDebug, resolve, and monitor production issues, ensuring system reliability and scalabilityProactively optimize system performance, data workflows, and cloud infrastructure usageStay current with emerging technologies and propose improvements for backend architecture and processesRequirements:
3–5 years of experience in backend software development using languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.jsStrong knowledge of server-side development, RESTful API design, and scalable architecturesProficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB); experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Redshift) is a plusExperience with AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, RDS, and EC2Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and KubernetesSolid understanding of software engineering principles, algorithms, data structures, and system designSkilled in problem-solving, debugging, and optimizing server-side performanceBS or MS in Computer Science or related fieldEffective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teamsBenefits:
