WHOOP is hiring a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead the Business Systems engineering function. In this role, you will oversee multiple engineering teams responsible for building and maintaining the services, integrations, and tools that power WHOOP’s internal operations. You will partner with leaders across Finance, Operations, Member Services, and other business functions to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient systems that directly enable WHOOP’s growth. You will provide both strategic and technical leadership—driving long-term architecture decisions while cultivating an inclusive, high-performing engineering culture.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Lead, mentor, and grow multiple engineering teams within the Business Systems organizationDefine technical strategy and roadmap for business-critical systems in partnership with product, operations, and technology leadersDrive the design and delivery of scalable backend services, APIs, and integrations that enable cross-functional efficiencyEstablish and maintain best practices for engineering excellence, system reliability, and securityPartner with senior business stakeholders to ensure technology investments align with organizational priorities and enable growthDevelop engineering managers and senior engineers, fostering leadership capability and technical ownership across the organizationCultivate a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative team environment that attracts and retains top talent
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering management with experience leading managers or multiple teamsStrong technical foundation in backend engineering, with experience in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go)Proven experience architecting and scaling APIs, integrations, and distributed systemsFamiliarity with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and enterprise business systemsTrack record of aligning technical strategies with business objectives and delivering measurable impactDemonstrated ability to build, mentor, and scale engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environmentExcellent communication and leadership skills, with comfort influencing at the executive levelStrong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions
