About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll design and implement the APIs and integrations that connect Quizlet to a global ecosystem of partners, AI agents, and learning platforms. You’ll help define the architecture for our LearnOS plugin system, build developer tooling, and collaborate across teams to ensure secure, scalable, and discoverable services.
We’re happy to share that this is an onsite position in our San Francisco office, with a minimum of three days per week onsite: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
In this role, you will
Design and deliver APIs powering partner integrations and agentic workflows.Develop infrastructure for Quizlet widgets and embedded experiences in LMS and productivity tools.Build developer-facing tools, SDKs, and plugin frameworks for external integrations.Ensure API reliability, scalability, and security through rate-limiting and observability.Mentor junior engineers and contribute to platform standards and design reviews.
What you bring to the table
5+ years of backend or platform engineering experience, including API design.Strong experience building extensible REST/gRPC APIs, SDKs, and integration systems.Knowledge of OAuth2, rate limiting, and platform security best practices.Hands-on experience in Go, Python, Node.js, or TypeScript.Strong collaboration skills and a product-focused engineering mindset.
