This role sits at the heart of a remote-first healthcare technology organization focused on improving how people manage chronic conditions through digital care delivery. You will join a Platform Engineering team responsible for the reliability, scalability, and evolution of core infrastructure that powers member-facing applications and clinical programs. The environment is highly collaborative, working closely with product engineering, data teams, security, and IT to deliver resilient systems. You will help design and operate cloud-native infrastructure that supports large-scale, real-world healthcare use cases. This role combines hands-on engineering with platform ownership, developer experience improvements, and operational excellence. It is ideal for someone who enjoys building foundational systems that enable other engineers to move faster and more safely. You will also contribute to improving automation, CI/CD, and observability across the organization.
Accountabilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure supporting mission-critical healthcare applications, ensuring high availability, resiliency, and cross-region reliability across AWS environments.
- Operate and improve Kubernetes-based systems (EKS), managing container orchestration, deployments, and platform stability in production-grade environments.
- Develop and enhance platform tooling and DevOps capabilities, including CI/CD pipelines, secrets management, automation workflows, and developer experience improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, security, and IT stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions that meet evolving technical and operational needs.
- Manage observability and performance monitoring using modern tooling, ensuring system health through metrics, logging, and alerting practices.
- Maintain and evolve infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform and Ansible to ensure consistency, scalability, and repeatability of environments.
- Participate in on-call rotations, responding to incidents and improving system reliability through root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
- 5+ years of experience designing and building cloud-based architectures on AWS at scale, with strong understanding of distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production, ideally using EKS or similar managed services.
- Strong proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and configuration management tools like Ansible.
- Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, including dashboards, logs, alerts, and custom metrics.
- Solid background in Docker containerization, including building, deploying, and managing containerized applications.
- Experience managing and troubleshooting Linux-based systems, including persistent storage and virtual machine environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to write clear documentation and collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort working in agile, test-driven, and continuous delivery environments, with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
- Bonus: experience with self-hosted GitLab, PostgreSQL, Golang development, or healthcare technology environments.
