About the team: We power some of the largest live sporting and entertainment events streamed on the JioHotstar platform. To deliver a seamless viewing experience at scale, our team is responsible for measuring and maintaining video Quality of Service (QoS) in real time. We drive JioHotstar’s multi-Content Delivery Network strategy and build systems that enable intelligent traffic shaping based on video and API performance metrics. Our work sits at the intersection of data engineering, software engineering, and advanced visualization—making this team a unique blend of deep technical expertise and real-time decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Serves as the functional lead, possess deep knowledge of core systems and takes full responsibility for the team's code, design, and project delivery, ensuring high quality and on-time completionTackles complex technical challenges independently for complex systems, demonstrating technical depth and proficiency in multiple programming languagesIdentify and address performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and areas for optimizationContribute to architectural discussions, propose innovative solutions, and evaluate trade-offs to make informed technical decisionsCollaborate with product managers to decompose large projects into manageable tasks and prioritize work effectivelyBuild the next-generation user experience and the platforms required to enable intuitive content discovery for our customersWork with the engineering team to optimize applications for performance and scalability across various platforms, Mobile, Web, and Living Room devicesProvide mentorship and guidance to other developers
Skills & Attributes for success:
Strong coding and designing skills (Java or Golang)Experience in building high-scale distributed domain-driven microservicesProficiency with databases like MySQL, NoSql (Cassandra, Redis, DynamoDB) Embrace new technologies and work with various tools and technologies to achieve the desired functionalityExperience with AWS stacks like SQS, Dynamo DB, EKS, Aurora, etc. will be an added advantageExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues in production environmentsCommunicate effectively with stakeholders and collaborate well within a team environment to achieve desired results
Preferred Education & Experience:
B-Tech or M-Tech in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from a reputed university. 9-12 years of progressive experience in software development, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time.
