Job Summary: As a Software Development Engineer II, you will play a key role in building Cricinfo’s next-generation customer portal and core systems that operate at massive scale. Your work will power the Cricinfo website, mobile apps, and backend services that serve hundreds of millions of cricket fans worldwide.

You will design, build, and maintain distributed systems that deliver seamless and reliable experiences across our digital and broadcast platforms. Beyond fan-facing experiences, your work will also enable the editorial and commentary teams behind Cricinfo’s global coverage.

This role demands strong technical expertise, deep ownership, and a focus on operational excellence to ensure our systems perform flawlessly at global scale.

About the Team: The Cricinfo & Sports Experience team is redefining how fans experience sports. We blend rich stats, social features, and fandom layers to go beyond passive viewing, making JioHotstar a destination for passionate sports communities. Whether it's live match stats, fan polls, or community hubs, we are creating the next evolution of connected sports experiences.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable services and APIs using Node.js Go, and related technologies.
  • Contribute to multi-language systems, integrating components written in Go, Node.js, and Python where appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate business problems into pragmatic technical solutions.
  • Participate in architectural discussions and code reviews to ensure reliability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Write efficient, well-tested, and reusable code with a focus on quality, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Identify bottlenecks and optimize system performance at scale.
  • Take ownership of feature delivery, from design through deployment and production monitoring.
  • Skills and attributes for success:

  • Strong programming fundamentals with professional experience in Node.js and Golang.
  • Working knowledge of Python or willingness to learn it for cross-language integration tasks.
  • Comfort working in a multi-language environment, with a “code-is-code” mindset rather than attachment to specific stacks.
  • Solid understanding of API design, distributed systems, and modern cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure).
  • Ability to reason about trade-offs and make data-driven engineering decisions focused on business value.
  • Strong debugging and performance profiling skills across multiple environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities; thrives in a cross-functional and remote-friendly setup.
  • Growth mindset - adaptable, curious, and driven to continuously improve.
  • Preferred education and experience:

  • Bachelors/master's in computer science or a related field with 2-4 years of professional experience as a software developer with hands-on experience with TypeScript.
