Our Journey
ShopBack began in 2014 as a late-night spark of inspiration between Henry and Joel — not just to build a Cashback platform, but to reimagine how brands and consumers connect. As former advertisers, they understood the limitations of traditional marketing, and saw an opportunity to deliver more value on both sides. That idea quickly turned into action, with the first prototype built during a 24-hour sprint. Today, ShopBack serves over 50 million users across 13 markets, partners with 20,000+ merchants, and powers over half a million transactions daily. We're building The World’s Most Rewarding Way to Shop — and looking for bold, driven individuals to join us.

We are looking for a driven and curious Software Engineer in Test (SDET) Intern to join our engineering team. As an intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in ensuring the quality of our software applications by executing test cases, assisting with test automation scripts, and supporting manual testing processes. You’ll also get exposure to our CI/CD pipeline and learn how quality engineering fits into a high-scale, product-focused tech environment.

This internship is a great opportunity for students who are excited about software quality, eager to learn testing best practices, and want to experience what it's like to build and ship products in a fast-moving, collaborative team.

Your Adventure Ahead

  • Support product quality efforts through a mix of manual testing and test case execution, with guidance from experienced QA and engineering team members.
  • Assist in running and maintaining automated test scripts and help track issues or bugs through standardized QA tools.
  • Participate in routine test planning and test execution cycles, helping ensure releases meet quality standards.
  • Help prepare test environments and data for different stages of testing (development, staging, production).
  • Collaborate with engineers, QA, and product teams to reproduce issues, retest fixes, and verify feature stability.
  • Learn about and contribute to quality processes such as CI/CD pipelines, regression testing, and test automation tools under mentorship.
  • Essentials to Succeed

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Able to commit 6 months.
  • Some experience with or exposure to a programming language (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript).
  • Curiosity about automated testing frameworks and willingness to learn quickly.
  • A strong interest in software quality, debugging, and test-driven development.
  • Good communicator, detail-oriented, and a proactive learner.
  • Bonus: You've dabbled with AI tools to solve coding problems, automate tasks, or boost productivity.
