ARSIEM is currently looking for a part-time Software Engineer Level 2 to support a high-visibility tool development project, working 8 hours one day per week with an ISSE and Technical Director. This position will support one of our Government clients in Columbia, MD.
Responsibilities
Ability to collaborate one on one with software developers to identify appropriate security analyses, defenses and countermeasures at each phase of the software development lifecycle to help design embedded security features.
Identify and assess potential software specific threats and risks, with the ability to develop a strategy to mitigate the risks, and execute the activities to identify, eliminate, and prevent software vulnerabilities.
Analyze software designs and implementations from a security prospective, and identify and resolve security issues.
Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to Derive software security requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
Identify recommendations for improving security documentation and software development process standards.
Implement, test and operate advanced software security techniques in compliance with technical reference architectures.
Perform on going security testing and code review to improve software security.
Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements.
Work individually or as part of a team.
Review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.
Resolve software problem reports, utilize software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment
Provide specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software tradeoffs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf(COTS) Government Off-the-Shelf(GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Fourteen (14) years experience as a Software Engineer (SWE) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
Background in Java and SQL is required.

Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design
Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries
Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project
Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; perform quality control on team products
Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
Software Security Engineering experience to assure the level of confidence that software functions as intended, and is free of vulnerabilities, either intentionally or unintentionally designed or inserted as part of the software throughout the life-cycle.
