Software Engineer

Software Engineers at Sirona are responsible for the data-intensive applications and services we develop for reimagining the way doctors engage with medical images. Software Engineers work in collaboration with our experienced engineers, product designers, product managers and researchers/scientists to solve problems and further the application of technology in the radiology space. Their goal is to help doctors deliver the highest quality of care with the use of technology.

This is a hybrid role working out of our Cincinnati, OH or Burlington, VT office a minimum of 3 days each week. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Create API solutions for internal and external web services for storing and exposing all data ingested or generated by radiologists, using test-driven development to write well-tested code
• Develop frontend and backend features that power Sirona’s web applications and APIs.
• Build performant and reliable services and solutions to manage and transfer the large amount of data to clients
• Collaborate with frontend, backend and quality engineers to spec, write, test, and deploy code
• Receive mentorship from Senior and Staff Engineers to grow your technical skills, software design knowledge, and engineering best practices.
• Gather requirements from Product to create innovative solutions
• Participate in the design and implementation of end-to-end solutions alongside senior engineers
• Learn to evaluate technical tradeoffs while balancing business needs with guidance from senior engineers
• Participate in code reviews and pair programming with other engineers in the organization
• Contribute to strong testing practices to avoid regressions in the solutions provided
• Debug production issues and collaborate with teammates to identify and implement solutions.
• Continuously learn new technologies, engineering practices, and development tools.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science
• Some experience with Python or similar object oriented language (Python3 preferred)
• 1-3 years of experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern frontend framework (React preferred)
• Familiarity with REST APIs or web application development
• Experience with relational databases (SQL) or NoSQL databases through coursework, projects, or professional experience
• Experience with performance and optimization problems, particularly at large scale is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing Docs and RFCs
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn from experienced engineers
• Experience using Git for source control
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar) is a plus.
• Bonus points:  Amazon AWS, Django, Docker, Kubernetes and general full-stack experience

The annual US base salary for this full-time position is $100,000  + equity + benefits.
