Software Engineering Manager for Identity Service

And that's where you come in: We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our Platform organization, with a focus on Identity & Access Management. This role is responsible for leading a distributed engineering team delivering high-impact, large-scale platform solutions used across the organization.
What you will do:
Lead and grow a distributed, cross-functional engineering team
Drive delivery of large, complex platform initiatives across multiple stakeholders
Ensure high engineering standards in architecture, code quality, and operational excellence
Partner with other teams and domains to define and execute technical strategy
Own execution, predictability, and delivery outcomes
Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
Support hiring, mentoring, and performance management
What we do:
We build an identity service at scale that helps our product teams to synchronize user data and provides a smoother experience to our users across our products.
This is a greenfield project. Initial joiners will have a large influence on how it’s implemented.
We grow great products by investing in the teams that create them: the hallmarks of our engineering culture are constructive code review, hackweeks, internal conferences, a bias to action, thoughtful mentorship, and regular communication.
We work with Amazon Web Services to provision infrastructure, reduce costs, and scale traffic.
We write testable, performant code that can scale to tens of millions of requests per day.
Mentor and teach other engineers, encouraging best practices and fostering code reuse.
What we are looking for:
Leadership & Delivery
Proven experience managing distributed teams across locations
Strong experience leading cross-functional initiatives (engineering, product, security, infrastructure, etc.)
Experience delivering large, complex technical projects in a scalable environment
Previous line management experience is a strong plus, but technical leadership of senior engineers is also accepted
Strong ownership mindset and bias to action
Technical Background
8+ years of experience in modern software engineering environments
Strong background in backend development (preferably Java or JavaScript/TypeScript, but other modern languages are welcome)
Experience with cloud-native, high-traffic applications (AWS or other major cloud providers)
Solid understanding of distributed systems and scalable architectures
Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases
Hands-on understanding of DevOps practices (CI/CD, monitoring, observability, infrastructure as code)
Understanding of identity and access management concepts (OAuth2, SSO, SAML, LDAP, etc.)
Experience implementing identity solutions (e.g., Ping Identity, Auth0, or custom-built solutions) is a big plus
Experience serving large-scale, global user bases
Other Requirements
Strong communication skills in English and Hungarian
