Build & Release Engineer

As a build/release engineer, you’ll own the build and release process for all Couchbase products from Server to Mobile to Capella. You’ll work with the Development, Quality Engineering, and Product teams to deliver high quality builds throughout the development cycles.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, automate and improve the build processes
  • Troubleshoot and resolve build failures
  • Administer, build, and manage build infrastructure
  • Maintain inventory of third-party dependencies and track them for security updates
  • Work effectively with cross-functional and distributed teams
  • Administer GitHub/Docker/Yum/Debian repositories for our products
  • Ensure that all releases are well packaged and conform to the packaging standards on different platforms (eg. CentOS, Ubuntu, Windows, OSX, Docker containers, Maven, Red Hat, and etc) and on different cloud providers (AWS, GCP, and Azure)
  • Create, review, publish and manage formal release notification, instructions and launch plans if needed.

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in software development with at least 2 years in release engineering
  • 2+ years experience with development environments and tools, including Terraform, Packer, Xcode, MSVC, and Linux build systems.
  • Experience working with overlapping product release cycles (e.g. major releases, maintenance releases, beta and patches)
  • Experience with build agent pooling (e.g. docker swarm) and virtualization (e.g. VM’s)
  • Experience with automation and CI/CD tools, particularly Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Docker and Ansible expertise highly desirable
  • Deep understanding of Git, including branching, etc.
  • Strong proficiency in Python is required; familiarity with CMake is highly desirable.

 

Location: This is an office based role and the selected candidate should agree to work from the Office.
