We're looking for a top-notch Staff Software Engineer to join our team. We're big believers in teamwork, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning. The ideal candidate is extremely curious, a strong communicator, and highly enthusiastic about driving cross-team collaboration to meet our objectives. The role involves designing and implementing distributed, fault-tolerant systems and building internal developer platform capabilities that improve developer productivity, reduce cognitive load, and enable teams to ship software faster and more safely.

You will spearhead our Internal Developer Platform and Developer Experience strategy, acting as the primary technical lead for the Single Tool Chain initiative. You will work closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to architect reusable tooling, templates, and paved-road solutions.

Necessary Skills and experience:
10 to 15 years experience with highly scalable distributed systems using open source tools.
Strong hands-on coding ability — this role is primarily a software engineering role focused on building internal platforms and developer tooling, treating the platform as a product, not an operations or infrastructure role.
Strong Java engineering skills are required, with experience building production backend services.
Additional polyglot experience with TypeScript or Python is highly desirable.
Deep understanding of software design patterns, clean architecture, expert-level system design, and maintainable code practices.
Strong foundation in software engineering principles including object-oriented design, unit testing, code reuse, and code reviewsIn-depth knowledge of the software development lifecycle (design, build, test, deploy, support).
Experience building self-service developer platform capabilities, including service templates, scaffolding systems, CI/CD abstractions, and platform APIs.
Designed and directed the implementation of cloud-native architectures that support internal platforms and developer tooling, incorporating best practices for scalability and security.
Extensive knowledge of container and container orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Passion for improving developer experience and productivity through thoughtful platform design and automation.
Experience driving engineering standards and platform adoption across multiple teams.

Knowledge of the following technologies or concepts
Internal Developer Platforms and portals such as Backstage, including service templates and developer self-service capabilities.
Cloud technology/architecture (preference AWS).
Amazon Web Services like EKS, ECS, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, and ECR.
Modern build tools and CI/CD abstractions (e.g., GitHub Actions, Maven, GitOps tools like ArgoCD/FluxCD).
Strong familiarity with container technologies and Kubernetes-based platformsInfrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation.
Familiarity with AWS networking primitives required to build secure platform abstractions for application teams.
Artifactory like CloudSmith, JFrog, Sonatype.
Agile development methodology.
