This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Mapping in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of large-scale distributed systems engineering and autonomous mobility innovation. You will help design and build the backend platforms that power next-generation mapping systems used in self-driving vehicle technologies. Working in a highly collaborative and technically advanced environment, you will contribute to systems that ingest, process, store, and deliver complex geospatial data at national scale. The position requires strong architectural thinking and hands-on engineering to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of critical services. You will partner with cross-functional engineering teams across perception, localization, and simulation to define data contracts and system interfaces. This is a high-impact role where your work directly supports safe, scalable autonomous vehicle deployment.

Accountabilities:

  • Architect and build scalable distributed backend systems supporting large-scale mapping data pipelines and services
  • Design and evolve data ingestion, transformation, storage, and release pipelines using microservices architecture
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex technical initiatives, including planning, execution, and stakeholder alignment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define data models, contracts, and system interoperability
  • Conduct system design reviews and drive engineering best practices across code quality, testing, and documentation
  • Diagnose and resolve production-level issues across distributed systems and data pipelines
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and contributing to roadmap and architecture decisions
  • Requirements:

This role requires deep expertise in backend distributed systems and strong technical leadership experience. Candidates should bring a solid foundation in system design, cloud infrastructure, and data-intensive applications.

    • 5+ years of experience designing and operating scalable distributed systems in production
    • Strong programming skills in Python (C++ or TypeScript a plus)
    • Deep knowledge of databases, caching, service-oriented architecture, and data modeling
    • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
    • Experience building ETL pipelines and data orchestration systems (e.g., Airflow)
    • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence architectural decisions across teams
    • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
    • Strong communication, problem-solving, and mentoring skills
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive base salary ranging from $185,100 to $335,300 annually
      • Performance-based bonus and incentive compensation opportunities
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance from day one
      • Retirement savings plan with employer contributions (401k)
      • Paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave
      • Flexible spending accounts, health savings account options, and life insurance coverage
      • Tuition assistance and professional development programs
      • Employee assistance and wellness programs supporting mental and physical health
      • Remote work flexibility with hybrid onsite expectations depending on location
      • Company vehicle program eligibility upon qualification.
