Position Overview
Spend your days making a difference, not just working for a living. We do that by creating Security, Risk management, Compliance, and audit software that uncovers fraud, waste, environmental risk, and abuse in their organizations. Our collaborative R&D teams use Serverless AWS technologies to build our SaaS platform and tackle strategic business challenges, creating highly impactful solutions for today and for our future to support Modern Governance.
The ideal candidate will have proven ability to apply effective analysis, design, programming, and testing skills to produce and maintain scaled SaaS software solutions. You will work as part of an established team who are used to working together to achieve excellent results. You'll have the chance to take ownership of the features you're working on, actively suggest improvements to how we design and build software, and support more junior team members by sharing your knowledge and helping the team grow and perform even better over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and Deliver Solutions
Champion the design and delivery of secure, high-performance microservices—primarily on AWS—using infrastructure-as-code tools, particularly Terraform and the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK). Deliver end-to-end software solutions in languages such as Python and Node.js, overseeing development, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
- Technical Leadership
Set technical direction across multiple teams, identifying system pain points and proposing improvements at scale. Responsible for technical decision-making, strategic direction for brigades, and acting as a key contact point for complex initiatives.
- Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing
Mentor other engineers on best practices in Python, Terraform, software architecture, and emerging technologies. Foster a culture of learning, ethical AI adoption, and open knowledge-sharing.
- AI Strategy and Integration
Lead design decisions for embedding AI in systems, advise on model capabilities, and monitor responsible AI adoption—integrating these with engineering solutions, potentially leveraging Python.
- Collaboration & Partnership
Partner with Product, Security, and DevOps teams to shape technical roadmaps, ensure compliance, and enable business value. Facilitate the ideation and implementation of new solutions.
- Continuous Improvement
Engage proactively with engineering teams to understand pain points and design scalable solutions, evaluating and piloting new tools—such as Python frameworks and Terraform modules—for optimal performance and developer productivity.
- Code Quality & Ownership
Take full accountability for assigned tasks and Epics from inception through deployment, ensuring high quality, robust testing, and maintainable CI/CD pipelines—including those using Python and Terraform.
Required Experience/Skills
- 7–10 years of experience delivering secure, scalable applications in agile environments.
- Deep expertise in architecture and design of modern microservices (preferably AWS serverless) using Python, Node.js, and TypeScript.
- Advanced proficiency with infrastructure-as-code (especially Terraform), containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.
- Experience integrating security best practices in all work, including in Python code and Terraform automation.
- Proven ability to influence engineering culture and mentor peers in technical domains such as Python development and Terraform infrastructure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to translate complex technical and AI-related concepts.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of both technical and business aspects; able to justify decisions for both business and technical reasons.
- Deep understanding of AI integration in frontend applications, including prompt engineering, model architectures, bias and safety concerns, and the ability to guide teams on responsible and user-friendly implementations.
